If you’re looking for a high efficiency natural gas furnace this summer, then you will want to know about a few ways to save some money. High efficiency natural gas furnaces can help you save on your Georgia gas bills. But the cost to purchase and install a new furnace is certainly pricey. So, we want to help you find any way to bring the costs down a bit. Unfortunately, the One Big Beautiful Bill ended some credits available for energy efficient upgrades in 2025. But you still have options. So, let’s dig into the details of how you can get an energy rebate for a new natural gas furnace in Georgia.

The Georgia State Energy Efficiency Rebate

Fortunately, the state of Georgia has a Home Efficiency Rebate (HER) program. The amount of your rebate depends on how much your efficiency improvement will save you and where your household income falls relative to the median income in your county. The rebate incentive ranges from $2,000 to $10,000 and could potentially cover 98% of your project costs.

Here are a few things you need to know about this program. Firstly, you need to work with an approved contractor and complete an assessment. You’ll also provide information to verify where you live and your income.

If you meet the requirements for energy savings with your project, this program could be a huge help in reducing project costs. And the more energy you save the less you’ll pay on your monthly natural gas bill!

Atlanta Gas Light Rebate Program

Atlanta Gas Light also offers rebates on energy efficient natural gas furnaces. These rebates aren’t quite as big as those offered by the state of Georgia, but I’ll take a few hundred in savings where I can get it!

Rebate amounts are based on the annual fuel utilization efficiency (AFUE). That is, how efficiently the furnace makes heat. Upgrading to a natural gas furnace with 92% AFUE or higher gets a $300 rebate. Or you can go for max efficiency, or 95% AFUE or higher, for a $400 rebate.

You can also update your natural gas water heater with a model that is rated .82 uniform energy factor (UEF) or higher and get a $200 rebate.

Save More with New Natural Gas Plan

Your new high efficiency furnace is definitely going to drop your natural gas costs. Just think about it. A standard furnace today is about 80% efficient. So, if you go with a 95% efficiency upgrade, that is 15% more efficient at least! Additionally, older systems lose efficiency over the years. That means your upgrade is likely getting you even more than that 15%.

This is already great for monthly natural gas costs. But we can make it even better. One of the best ways to save on natural gas each month is to compare natural gas plans in Georgia and grab a cheap rate.
